Enrollment and graduation policies and procedures
Auditing courses
If you are not classified as an audit student, you must register for the class and submit a completed "Request to Audit Form", which is available in the Office of the Registrar during the first week of the semester (see the calendar for the deadline date). You may not change from credit to audit status or vice versa after the deadline date.
- A student auditing a course who fails to meet class participation and assignment requirements or who exceeds the total number of allowed absences may be dropped from the course by the instructor and assigned a grade of “W”.
- If you enroll in a remedial course (0001-0999) that is not required, you will be classified as an audit student for the course.
- Fees for audit classes are the same as for all other classes. Financial aid is not available for audited coursework.
Regents’ Test & remediation
Students must register online through the Registration Menu in ISIS through CougarNet, during the specified registration period. A confirmation letter, with important information about the test, will be generated and should be printed.
Students who have completed 45 or more semester hours but have not passed both parts of the Regents’ Test will be required to take and complete appropriate Regents' Skills courses as a condition of continuing enrollment. Transfer students who have not passed both parts of the test by their third semester of enrollment are required to complete the Regents' Skills courses.
Regents’ Test results will be available in ISIS through CougarNet, under the General University Requirements section of the student’s Academic Advising Record. See the calendar for specific dates.
For information on exempting the Regents’ Test, please see the Testing Center’s Web site.
Columbus State University administers an Alternative Regents’ Test for students whose native language is not English. Students who think they may be eligible to take this test must contact the Director of the Testing Center at 706-568-2226.
U.S. & Georgia History & Constitutions exams
Transfer students who took U.S. history and/or American government courses at a college other than a University System of Georgia college may be deficient in the one or more parts of the legislative requirements. To register for and receive study information about the proficiency examinations in United States and Georgia history and constitutions, please email your name and CSU ID to chappel_patty@colstate.edu or call the Department of History at 706-568-2263. These examinations are held once per semester, and can be given on an individual basis to graduating seniors at the Testing Center.
NOTE: These tests do not carry credit hours and do not exempt you from any core requirements.
Graduation
If you are approaching degree completion, you must submit an "Application for Graduation" in the Enrollment Services tab through CougarNet, the semester prior to graduating. If you wish to participate in a graduation ceremony, a cap and gown is required. You may order your graduation regalia through the bookstore.
